“true” is not a translation: check your JSON value types

Translate the label; preserve non-text data
In a JSON resource, true and 3 are not words waiting for translation. Iria Studio documents preservation of keys and non-text data. Before exporting, check each value’s type too: opening the file does not show that its data is still represented in the same way.
Our original example starts with this small English resource:
{"title":"Ready","enabled":true,"retries":3}
For a Spanish status label meaning ready, we propose:
{"title":"Listo","enabled":true,"retries":3}
This is an authored example, not output obtained by running Iria. It retains title, enabled and retries, changing only the visible text. The numbers do not describe a real app configuration.
Valid syntax can still have the wrong type
This object also has valid JSON syntax:
{"title":"Listo","enabled":"true","retries":"3"}
But enabled and retries are now strings: the quotation marks changed their types. We do not claim what error a particular app would produce; that depends on the consuming program. The checkable difference is between a boolean, a number and a string.
To compare files without running the consuming app, inspect their keys and types with a JSON parser. For real resources, retain external context comments and project instructions too: not every string is a label to translate.
Review before returning the file to the project
- Keep copies of the source resource and existing target.
- Identify human-readable text and data values.
- Review translations in context; “Ready” does not need identical wording on every button or status.
- Check the target keys, structure and types. Do not turn a number into text to make it resemble surrounding entries.
- Validate with the project’s tools, then check its use in the consuming application.
Structural checks do not certify meaning. This example is also not a compatibility test for every JSON variant.
Local processing with human review
The Iria facts and Localization Studio overview document JSON/RESX, multi-file projects, preservation of keys and non-text data, and translation review. Iria is a paid Windows x64 product. Activation, licence validation and the initial model download use the network; translation text is processed locally.
Review requirements and the official Iria download. Start with a small resource and check both its text and data before expanding the project.
The facts identify the platform as Windows (x64), distributed as an MSI installer or portable ZIP. Check your PC architecture and intended download format before taking the project to another machine.
